Heather and Peter first met in Boulder during October of 2000, playing ice hockey at the University of Colorado's Recreation Center.  Fortunately, fate would have it that we were on the same team, which provided good times, fast hockey, and great humor.  After the game, Peter asked if anyone was interested in going out, and Heather was the first (and only) to jump at the offer.  We hit the town, all scruffy from playing hockey, and when closing time came, we were alone together for the first time.  Peter suggested we continue our conversation at the only place still open: Denny's!  We stayed at Denny's until dawn when we drove up Flagstaff mountain to watch the sun rise together.

Our rapport was immediate, and Peter came calling every day thereafter.  Two years later, Peter moved into Heather's cozy cottage and we made a home together.  One year later, in 2003, we moved a mile down the road into the Kirk's expansive retirement home, and we have enjoyed homemaking in a wonderful Boulder neighborhood.

Separately, Heather has spent the last five and one half years building a sole practice law firm.  She helps to protect children and families in Denver juvenile dependency and neglect cases.  Peter graduated from college in 2001 and quickly became a well-respected mechanical engineer for Lockheed Martin Coherent Technologies.  In addition, Peter has recently returned to school to pursue his dream of becoming a physician.

We are currently experiencing a time of great unknowns,  centering around Peter's recent acceptance to St. George's University School of Medicine, in St. George's Grenada.  The one thing that is certain is our love for each other has risen in brightness and warmth, just like the very first sun rise we experienced together.  Whatever the future holds, we wish to experience it together and begin that journey by entering into marriage this July.  We hope to be surrounded by our friends and family, in person or in spirit, to celebrate the beginning of our new adventure together in matrimony.

What are those birds?!?  The beautiful birds in the image above are Fairy Terns, Gygis alba.  You can learn more about Fairy Terns at the following sites.
