Thank
you for visiting our Getting There page!
We understand that getting to Shelter Island can be tricky for the
uninitiated, so here's our attempt to make things easier. Please
see the following pages, depending on your approach. Since the
majority of people will come into New York from either a major airport,
or the ferry from Connecticut, these starting points serve as our
focus.
Our first recommendation for
those flying in is the
Long Island Mac Arthur Airport, due to its closer proximity.
Cheaper flights may be available to La Guardia, and this airport is our
second-best recommendation. Plan on renting a car, since public
transportation is difficult from any of the airports. Also, taxi
cabs are not readily available in the Hamptons or on Shelter Island.
